About the Workshop:
Using a meditative process, we’ll create a watercolor atmosphere for a stitched mantra of your choice.
Maybe this is a good time to revisit your word of the year. Maybe you have a daily intention practice. Or maybe you have no idea what word to use, but the group will inspire you.
We will use a few simple watercolor techniques to create different blends and marks as a background. Then with needle and thread we’ll stitch our words into the painting. No experience needed! This is a calming activity that ends with a beautiful and meaningful piece of art.
Materials List:
Watercolor paints of any kind. I’ll probably use this inexpensive set.
Watercolor brushes - any medium size brush, or variety of brushes. Just stay away from the tiny detail brushes - it should be quite a bit bigger than the ones that come with a basic set.
Paper - I like to use Canson mixed media paper because it is affordable and easy to stitch through. If you want to use watercolor paper just make sure you can comfortably push a needle through it.
Paper Towel
Two Water Jars
Embroidery Needle (sharp tip)
Embroidery Thread - any color(s) you like, though darker colors may show up best.
Scissors
Pencil
Scratch paper
Ruler (optional)
