Craftivism MashUp with Be Seen Project at Gather Here - Cambridge, MA

Super excited to be joining Mindy Tsonas Choi founder of the Be Seen Project for this Craftivism Making Event at Gather Here!

Craftivism (craft+activism) spans all mediums and movements. This workshop gives you an opportunity to try your hand at two mediums.

Stitch-up with Badass Cross Stitch aka Shannon Downey:
Know how to stitch already? Come learn a bit about the history of craftivism + the fiber arts and work on something meaningful and fabulous in community with others. Not a stitcher yet? Shannon will teach you how to embroider in mere minutes so you can stab it out for pleasure and power. Materials included.

8 Page Zine making with Mindy Tsonas Choi:
Learn to fold and create a simple 8 page zine using a single sheet of paper, while also learning about the origins of zine making as a DIY craftivist tool and subculture. You will receive your own copy of “How to Make an 8 Page Zine”, zine to take home with you! All supplies included.

 

Limited to 15 participants (16 yrs of age or older); 7 participants required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund. Please note that there a no refunds for guest workshops.

  • Level: adventurous beginner, you feel good holding a needle in your hand and have a love for all things handmade.

  • We provide: Shannon Downey! And Mindy Tsonas Choi! Plus all the materials and tools you'll need to MAKE SOMETHING!

  • You bring: yourself and your energy!

  • Class length: 90 minutes (we are offering TWO sessions so we can host ALL Y'ALL!)

  • Proceeds in part benefiting the Be Seen Project, helping to resource BIPOC artists and makers working as activists and craftivists.

Please note this class is IN PERSON ONLY
In person participants must be symptom free to enter the store and attend in person.

Two Classes - 1-2:30pm and 3-4:30pm
