Let's stab some shit together in person!
Join me for a few hours and learn about craftivism and how to embroider.
We will gather at the queerest little bookstore in Utah - Under the Umbrella (yes, you CAN buy all the books)
In this two hour workshop you will learn everything you need to know to start stitching staggering works of import and genius.
I will teach you about the materials, how to get set up to stitch, working with patterns or designing your own pieces, and we will kick if off with backstitch. There's much to learn and it's zero-pressure and wicked fun.
After you fall madly in love with embroidery, you can join in the #YearOfStitch in my Patreon community where I'll teach you a new stitch every week for a whole year! There are free patterns, a community of likeminded folks, and craftivism challenges to get you flexing your activist muscles.
If you have materials, bring them with. If not, I'll have some for you.
an embroidery hoop (5-7" is usually best but any size will do)
a piece of light colored cotton fabric (got a tea towel or old sheets around? Use those)
a tapestry, chenille, or embroidery needle
pair of scissors
embroidery floss (whatever colors you like)
a water erasable marking pen, transfer pen, or friction pen
As always, my workshops are pay-what-you-can to keep them accessible to as many people as possible. I will be splitting the donations with the amazing queer bookstore because that is how we do.
I can't wait to stitch with you!!!!
