Battlement Couching

 

This fun and unique stitch is tops in my book. It offers quite the optical illusion. It is much simpler to build than the finish product would have you believe. I think it would look rad as a framing mechanism.

Start with the horizontal stitches. This is a large stitch. You come up and count over 34 holes before you come down. Then count down 8 spaces and come up.

Now for the vertical stitches. Follow the illustration for counting.

Next up is orange (or whatever color you like). You build the orange exactly as you did the red.
